State Representative Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) and his staff have helped constituents in the 51st House District recover more than $3 million held by the state’s ICash program since 2021.
The ICash program through the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office holds lost funds or property until they can be returned to the original owner or their heirs. These unclaimed assets could be from a forgotten bank account, uncollected life insurance, stocks meant to be passed down to a child, or another means. After a period of inactivity on an asset, a financial institution is obligated to turn over the funds to the state to find the rightful owner. Bos and his staff have worked closely with the ICash team to identify constituents and assist them through the claims process.
“I know it sounds too good to be true, but if you get a call or email from my office saying the state is holding money that belongs to you, it’s not a scam,” said Bos. “My amazing staff has already helped nearly fifty constituents recover more than $3 million through the claims process, and our list of potential claims continues to grow. If you have questions or need help with an ICash claim, don’t hesitate to call the office. We’re here to help.”
Bos’ office is currently working on contacting more than forty constituents ICash has identified with assets being held by the state. This is beyond the $3.155 million that has already been claimed by 51st District constituents.
Constituents can also check for themselves to see if the state may be holding funds that belong to them or a family member at icash.illinoistreasurer.gov. If you find an asset you or a family member may be eligible to claim and would like assistance through the claims process, contact Rep. Bos’ office at (224) 662-1176 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
